Johnson Trial Eaton 26th November 2006
What a weekend, both on Saturday and Sunday. Rain all the way to the site, then glorious sun for the trial! Ideal trialling conditions. We used our Eaton site, with thanks to Andy Shipman, and had 29 entries. It was tight at the top of the B.T.R.D.A. Championship, with John Fack and Ian Wright in hot pursuit only points apart.
Because of the rain the first round had wide open sections, and at the end John and Ian were still very close with John on 4 and Ian on 8. Subsequently there was a disaster for Ian when he missed the 12 gate on hill 6. He accepted it gracefully, not knowing that John had hit the 8 gate on hill 7. All this left the final win to Duncan Stephens, with Steve Courts coming in second.
PMC competitors were just Tom Stevenson and Ian Bell, as Kim Warwick's passenger, Rita, was unwell. We missed them both at the setting-up and on the Trial.
Thanks go to Tom and the two Johns (Holman and Ward) for their help setting out. It's interesting, if not alarming, to realise that the combined ages of the four volunteers was over 280 years! Thanks also go to all those who helped on the day, all the marshals, both club members and others, John Corfield for scrutineering and Norman Bradshaw for the 'you know what'.
Special thanks go to Lynn Jones, for all the paperwork, although on the day he had to be in America, and John Holman for deputising.
The next PMC Trial is on the 25th February 2007, provided that we can get a site. We are trying hard, but if you know of a suitable venue please give me or Tom Stevenson a ring.
Thanks again to all who made the trial a success. PMC is still tops in the trialling world!
